Shooting at 07:22.
Arising from its roles during the Civil War, and surviving the transition to self-contained cartridges, the Sharps rifle was known during the latter half of the 1800s for its exceptional accuracy and ability to deliver the big bore firepower needed to take down even the largest of North American game. Mine happens to be an Italian reproduction chambered in .45-70 Government. For even more fun, this particular rifle comes equipped with double set triggers, and I have replaced the front site and added a vernier peep sight to the tang of the stock. Whilst not quite the same as the rifle used in “Quigley Down Under“, this rifle still far outclasses my shooting abilities.
For music, enjoy the excerpts from Aaron Copeland’s “Rodeo” – “Buckaroo Holiday” and “Hoe-Down”.
