Restoring Family History ▪ Old Wooden Plane Sharpening And Makeover

This video shows my wooden plane restoration including sole replancement and how you can sharpen plane irons. Watch XXLRay’s other tools tutorials: I have been given a set of old wooden planes from a family who lived in the GDR. They were quite worn of and I restored the first one of them. This meant creating a new sole and refurbishing the blade. It’s so nice to have an old abandoned tool working again. The body had a stylish ’R’ on it and I guess it is the trademark of C.S. Reich - marke “Reichag“ predecessor of Howal. This trademark only existed between 1930 and 1952. The iron had “Prym“ printed on it. That could stand for William Prym GmbH & Co. KG but the company didn’t answer my request. Music (CC BY License ): ▪ Kevin Macleod - Riptide Links for mobile
