Gurupurnima in Jadan Ashram

On the festival of Guru Purnima, we honor the Guru the teacher, and receive blessings. The Guru brings light into the disciples’ lives. Guru Purnima is the first full moon after the summer solstice in the month of Ashadha (July-August). The Sanskrit word “guru“ means “dispeller of darkness“. The Guru dispels the ignorance of his disciple, who can experience the source of creation within himself through the teaching of the Guru. Guru Purnima is traditionally the day when the disciples offer their gratitude to the Guru.
