Brazil’s two-time world champion, Gabriel Medina was in red-hot form this season making five out of six WSL championship Tour finals. In two of those he came away with the win. Though being one of the hot favourites on the first ever Olympic surfing title, Medina was ultimately defeated by Australia’s Owen Wright who won the bronze medal.
