NEW Lotus Eletre 2023 FIRST LOOK: can you add lightness to an electric SUV?

The idea of a Lotus SUV with a big heavy battery below it sounds strange, but the BMW iX rival has added lightness wherever possible to stay true to the company formula. Let’s face it, SUVs are critical to commercial success and Lotus wants a slice of the pie with its new Eletre. It’ll be powered exclusively by electricity, with outputs starting from 600hp, and will offer a 0-62mph time of under three seconds. Top speed comes in at 162mph, but it’s the car’s charging that’s even more rapid. The Eletre utilises 350kW charging, allowing you to top up 250 miles of range in around 20 minutes. Lotus aiming for a total range of around 370 miles from a 100kWh battery, which is about on par with the iX. Other details remain scarce, but we should see Eletre hit showrooms sometime next year with prices likely to start around the £100,000 mark. 🔴 Subscribe for more awesome car videos:
