A 12 hour time lapse of a neuron following a compressive impact shows the formation of irreversible damage, in the form of circular “blebs“ in the cell’s axonal extensions, at around the 6-8 hour mark. Those blebs are the hallmark of TBI. By 12 hours, the cell has died.
