View from the ground as Ju 87 Stukas attack Soviet armor on the Eastern Front in late 1944
If you want to help keep the caffeine flowing
A segment of a contemporary newsreel purporting to show Soviet armored vehicles under attack by Junkers Ju 87 Stukas. It is possible that some of them are the Ju 87G “Kanonenvogel“ models armed a 37mm gun under each wing as most attack runs depicted are at a fairly shallow angle as opposed to the typical dive-bombing profile.
Identification of the vehicles depicted, some of which show damage that is inconsistent with an airborne attack:
0:34 Two knocked out T-34/85 medium tanks
0:39 Knocked out IS-2 Model 1943 heavy tank
0:43 Detail of a T-34/85 with at least two apparent glacis penetrations
0:44 Knocked out ISU-152 assault gun
0:54 M3A1 Scout Car supplied to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease
0:59 T-34/85 with a turret penetration
