Titles read: ’“Black Diamonds“ - A Coal Cameo. Filmed at Bestwood, Nottingham.’ Bestwood, Nottingham. Various shots of a coal mine. Men arrive at the mine and travel down to the coal face to work there; drilling, shovelling and blasting coal. An explosive charge is set off to break down the coal for loading into trucks. The trucks go up to the surface and into the tippler machine, where the coal is tipped out to be cleaned and sorted by men. Commentator says the average age of the men working here is 27.
