Chez les Dubadub Musketeerz l’envie d’explorer de nouveaux horizons n’est pas affectée par la crise. Les riddims sortent du Donjon Studio à bon rythme et l’équipe se travaille les cellules grises au quotidien pour trouver de nouvelles pistes artistiques stimulantes à suivre. C’est dans cette démarche et en connaissant sa voix phénoménale, que les Dubadub Musketeerz ont décidé d’entrer en contact avec le chanteur anglais Joe Yorke il y a quelques mois. La connexion entre Stand High Patrol et le bristolien d’adoption s’est faite simplement autour d’une envie d’ouverture partagée et de conceptions de la musique proches. Une relation de travail prolifique s’est créée instantanément portant « Quicksand », sans préméditation aucune, du rang de simple enregistrement test à celui de single 45 tours. Sur ce nouveau single subtilement mixé à Kerwax, la performance vocale hors norme sert un texte puissant qui traite de l’humain, de ses failles, de ses “faiblesses“ et de ses émotions. Le riddim a été produit par Pupajim et la version dub en face B est l’oeuvre de Mac Gyver, l’opérateur officiel de Stand High. Les lyrics sont à créditer à Eeyun Purkins avec qui Joe coopère étroitement depuis ses débuts. Le binôme voix / plume fait régulièrement des étincelles et les initiés sauront reconnaître que sur “Quicksand“ ils démontrent à nouveau toute l’étendue de leurs talents respectifs ! ------------------ Eng : Stand High Records presents “Quicksand”, a brand new collaborative single between Stand High Patrol and British artists Joe Yorke & Eeyun Purkins. This groovy little rocksteady number comes on 7” vinyl. The Dubadub Musketeers haven’t let the current situation get in the way of their will to explore new horizons. Riddims are flying out of the Donjon Studio left, right & centre. Indeed, the crew is constantly on the lookout for fresh talent and musical avenues. It’s through this process that Stand High Patrol decided to get in contact with Joe Yorke a few months ago, after becoming familiar with his incredible voice. Straight away they built a strong connection, both sharing the same kind of musical views. This collaboration quickly came to fruition. Starting as a simple dubplate test recording “Quicksand“ became a proper 7 inch vinyl release. This new single has been exquisitely mixed at Kerwax Studio, the riddim was built by Pupajim and the Dub version on the B side comes courtesy of Stand High Patrol’s official operator, Mac Gyver. Joe delivers lyrics about human kind, its flaws, its “weaknesses“ and emotions, with an extraordinary vocal performance. They were written by Eeyun Purkins, his long-time musical partner and accomplice.
