DIY Beaded Bells- A Twelve Ornament Challenge Piece
About 6 years ago, my youngest Handy Helper, then aged 3, wanted a bell. I was admiring a glass one that had belonged to H.H.’s great-grandmother and she wanted to play with it. Well, no, sorry, that was not going to happen. So I promised H.H. that I would make her one to play with. It would not make noise but she could play with it, drop it, kick it, etc., that little girls seem to do and it would not matter. So I created the first of these bells using very inexpensive kids beads and my knowledge of beadwork and making beaded netting. Fast forward 6 years and now I have made dozens (or more!!) of these bells. Unbeknownst to me at the time of this tutorial, bells nearly identical have been around since the 70s. I had no idea so I must apologize to whomever came up with these first. I promise no infringement was intended. I really thought I had had the idea first. If I can find the original maker, I will leave that credit here. I do not know for sure if it is the original from the 1970s but a viewer has said that someone named Herrschners came up with a pattern for this, so credit must be given to them. As it is, I will go ahead and show everyone how I made mine. Hope you enjoy.
