Top Gun Maverick Trailer - Recreated in Stunt Island

Tom Cruise like you’ve never seen him! This is a recreation of the Top Gun: Maverick movie trailer, with all scenes filmed in the PC game Stunt Island by Doug Armknecht. Marketed as the Stunt Flying and Filming Simulator, it was a very powerful program. The original #TopGun used F-14 Tomcat fighter jets, an aircraft not available in Stunt Island. Since Maverick uses mostly F/A-18s, I was able to recreate all of the flying scenes. Some interior and close-up scenes were omitted because they are hard to recreate in Stunt Island. The game Stunt Island contained a complete set of tools allowing you to make your own animated movies. In the decade following the game’s release, users created and shared hundreds of individual films online. Watch them here on Stunt Island Central.
