The Car That Killed VW Motorsports - Driving and Tearing into the MK8 Golf GTI TCR

►2019 was a phenomenal year for FCP Euro and its motorsports team. Fielding two cars in the SRO TC America championship lead to a crushing manufacturers and drivers championship at seasons. Unfortunately, Volkswagen decided to leave the championship on a high note and elected to forego production of a new Mk8-based GTI touring car, or so we thought. Friend of FCP Euro and Orchid Euro owner, Jamie Orr, took a trip to VW’s secret warehouse and discovered the singular functioning prototype Mk8 TCR racer unreleased by VW Motorsports. The Mk8 TCR represents what could’ve been for VW and FCP Euro Motorsports, say, maybe another championship or two. Although that never happened, VW was kind enough to ship the prototype over, along with their one-of-one Golf A59, and give it to FCP Euro for a day at Lime Rock Park.
