COCKTAILS - a contemporary cabaret Premieres: 4 - @ Theatre Varia, Brussels, BE After To the Ones I Love and Clear Tears | Troubled Waters, Thierry Smits returns to a format which is closer to performance and chooses the form of cabaret, with all its assumed clichés. Intimate and eccentric at the same time, flustering and topsy-turvy, Cocktails presents a mix of short pieces for one, two or three dancers. Act after act, the performers introduce us to a series of intriguing characters, playing on a myriad of costumes, recalling popular images of our time. Transformism, extravagance, irreverence! What is at play is delusion and unpredictability, bodies which present themselves deceitfully to us, but their proximity and profane character invite us to take them for real.
