This video is based on the core concept of Malosree Maitra’s thesis research, which investigated cell type specific gene expression differences in the brain in individuals with depression. Depressive disorders affect millions of people worldwide. Diverse brain cell types with specialized functions have been associated with depression and new technologies, such as single-cell sequencing, are currently being applied to better understand the individual contributions of these cell types to depression.
