Many Girls In A Boat - At Aldeburgh (1932)

Aldeburgh, Suffolk. “You’ve heard of the old lady who lived in a shoe. Well, here are young ladies who live in a boat.“ L/S of a very large, very strange looking houseboat. Girls wave from the deck. Closer shot of the houseboat as lots of girls in swimsuits run down the steps from the boat. Low angle shot of the girls coming down the steps. “Originally a trawler, it is moored high and dry, and is now a summer school, (for the Greenwich Girls’ Home).“ The girls have fun amongst the dunes around the boat. They play leapfrog and cook some food on a little fire beside the boat. The postman arrives and gives letters to a woman in a nurses uniform who hands them to the girls. The girls all cuddle each other and laugh as they read their mail. The tide has come in around the boat and the girls have a swim.
