House Plunges Into River Amid Massive Alaska Flood Officials issued an emergency declaration in Juneau, Alaska, as the city grapples with the destructive aftermath of a glacier lake outburst flood that has caused structural damage.  The flood was triggered by a rupture in Suicide Basin, an offshoot of the Mendenhall Glacier situated around 12 miles (19 km) north of the state capital, releasing water from the glacial lake.
