NEW YEAR (REVIEW OF THE YEAR) CHELSEA ARTS BALL. Albert Hall, London. LV. Pan down massed dancers. GV. Characters in fancy dress costume doing rock and roll / jiving. SV. CV. Girl in short night dress dancing with a character. GV. Extremely muscular man with a primitive looking girl in a leopard skin outfit. CV Another prehistoric pair. GV. Man dressed in a nappy with the year “1957“ written on the back dancing. SV. Couple dancing, camera pans down to reveal that he is not wearing trousers! The procession of effigies coming into the hall. LV. Mural on the wall. TV. The effigies being attacked and general skirmish breaks out - a long standing tradition. People trying to break up one of the effigies. LV. Massed crowd singing ’Auld Lang Syne’. LV. Balloons coming down from the roof to the eager dancers below, camera pans with the balloons.
