Woah Dude

Imagine that you wake up one day, look around you and things just seem different, foreign, distanced. You walk towards the mirror and you can logically identify yourself by name, skin colour, where you work and the location you are in, but you seem to lack a familiar descriptive contour, the contour of what defines the feeling of reality, of experience, of life that you’ve always been used to but never truly questioned. A sense of alienation starts to take over and you start panicking as you realize that the fear itself is adding fuel to the fire by introducing feelings of anxiety. This anxiety introduces panic and each short attack introduces a compulsive thought loop that distances you from your own experience to the point where you look again in the mirror to bring yourself back to normal. You don’t know what normal is in this state and so you question yourself, “What is normal?“ and the panic sets in again. Every time you try to remind yourself of who you are, the loop is started and each restart comes w
