Commentator says the pupils at this school are encouraged to develop their individuality. We see several boys in a tree house they have built in one of the school trees. Shot of ominous clouds in the sky. Speeded up footage of the children climbing down the tree from the tree house. In the Thuringian Forests in Germany, we see men constructing rafts on the River Saale. Men guide the rafts down rapids of the treacherous river. This is how the timber from the forest is transported down to the mills. Shots of the war-torn and battle-damaged town of Armentieres in France. Commentator talks of the real ’Mademoiselle of Armentieres’ (First World War song) and says that she recently broadcast from the BBC Studios.
