The winds streaming over the Sierra Nevada last night had just the right moisture content and temperature to create large lenticular clouds, stretching for miles in the Eastern Sierra. I experienced the winds while on a day hike at 10,000 feet up by Tioga Pass. After the hike when I arrived down by Mono Lake the setting sun was turning the clouds shades of orange.
