The Execution Of The German General That Condemned Rommel
One of the most shocking events of the Second World War was when a bomb went off inside of Adolf Hitler’s Wolf’s Lair headquarters on the 20th July 1944. But Hitler was injured but escaped with his life, but he then went on the offensive and ordered a huge purge of the Army and those who were involved in what was known as Operation Valkyrie. But one of those condemned was Carl Heinrich Von Stulpnägel. He was an experienced German Army General, and would be linked to war crimes during World War 2.
But Von Stulpnägel was also very dissident towards Hitler and the Nazis, and he would as the plot unfolded arrest 1200 members of the SS and Gestapo inside of Paris where he was the Commander. But Hitler then ordered him to Berlin, and despite being blind following an attempt to settle the score by his own hand, Stulpnägel was executed in a horrific manner inside of Plotzensee Prison’s execution chamber.
