Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR in Gran Turismo 2

The CLK GTR was one of the first cars to ever be pictured in Gran Turismo 2, being released with a small selection of other screenshots in February 1999. Then, it vanished. Rumour has it that EA held the licensing to the car and GT’s creators had to remove it from the game almost as quickly as they’d implemented it. Now, 22 years later, the car has finally been recreated and modded back into the game by RacingFreak. Here’s more information about its creation, from Nik himself: “After nearly 8 months of work and extensive research, I have decided to reveal my CLK GTR recreation project after the completion of its initial phase! My intention is to recreate as closely as possible the model which was in Gran Turismo 2 before it got cut. As nothing from this model remains in the game, I had to create the model and textures from scratch, basing it on 4 screenshots of it and a render.
