President Biden addresses the nation after ending reelection

President Biden has addressed the nation for the first time since he withdrew from the 2024 election. After weeks of uncertainty Biden, 81, announced on Sunday that he would not seek re-election and endorsed Kamala Harris, his vice-president, to take his place as Democratic nominee. He delivered an 11-minute speech from behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office from 8pm (1am UK time). Before the address Donald Trump spoke at a rally in North Carolina, repeatedly attacking Harris as a radical leftwinger.
