Canary Islands — A DISASTER ZONE? Alarming volcanoes activity in Spain, Italy, Iceland and Guatemala
On September 19, the Cumbre Vieja volcano in the Canaries woke up. Until then it had been dormant for 50 years! Smoke billowed up into the sky and could be seen from all over the island.
Streams of red-hot lava were literally attacking homes, infrastructure and crops. About 5,000 people were evacuated from nearby municipalities.

An anomalous earthquake struck southeastern Australia on Sept. 22.
Its magnitude was 5.9. The epicenter was located about 200 km from the country’s largest city of Melbourne. The hypocenter was located at a depth of 10 km. The first shock was followed by an aftershock with a magnitude of 4. The earthquake partially destroyed residential buildings.
