These harmonic foundations, based around the 1 4 5 triad concept, will allow you to harmonize melody over all the chords in a natural major or minor key. It’s a simple way of playing through a melody in multiple parts. Turning a single part melody/lead line into a harmony/chord based melody line. Using this accessible concept, I’ve had a lot of fun harmonizing vocal and instrumental melodies from famous songs. It’s surprising just how versatile this method is. Not only is it a great solo tool (i.e. for finger style playing), it also gives you the ability to accompany existing music in a harmonically richer way. I
