Speaking over Zoom to the Popcon event, the former home secretary started by acknowledging the scale of the party’s defeat. She said Conservatives had “lost across all types of demographics”. Criticising the party’s missed opportunities while in government, she said: “We were going to use our Brexit freedoms to stop the waves of illegal migrants landing on our shores; we were going to cut taxes; we were going to lower overall illegal migration; we were going to stop the lunatic woke virus making its way through the British state.” Read the best of our journalism: Subscribe to The Times and The Sunday Times YouTube channel: Find us on Facebook: Find us on Twitter: Find us on Instagram: #braverman #conservativeparty
