Silhouettes (1929)

“Here’s a new indoor pastime for Eve - making silhouettes - “ C/U of a woman’s hands as she holds a framed silhouette. “Take one small boy, one big sister, and a sheet of paper.“ M/S of a young boy with curly hair posing for the silhouette artist. A teenage girl pins a piece of paper to an easel. “With the aid of a pocket lamp cast a shadow on the paper and mark the outline in pencil - “ L/S of the girl and her brother (who is sitting on a table). The sister shines the torch and directs the boy on how to sit. She traces round the shadow’s outline. “Ink now, and plenty of it - “ the sister marks out the shape with black ink and colours the shape in. C/Us and L/S of her at the easel with her brother watching. “One small camera to photograph the large silhouette - (and thus reduce it.)“ Girl sets up the camera. “And there you are - another indoor hobby for Eve.“ M/S of the girl and boy looking at other silhouettes she has made. C/U over the girl’s shoulder of the silhouette of her brother,
