A steam train pulls out of the railway station. Views from the train as it travels to Rockstone. Essequibo River. A small steam powered boat navigates the Crab Falls. The mouth of the Potaro River - a small Balata Camp. (Balata is a form of Gutta-Percha, a type of tree). Many men in a small rowing boat return from a Balata expedition up river. Sacks are unloaded from the boat. Tumatumari - the landing stage for the gold-fields in the Potaro district. Cars are driven through the jungle on very primitive roads. Views from the front of the car - country roads, workers’ cottages. Eagle Mountain seen in the distance. Gold miners at work. Panning for gold. The gold which has been found is shown to the camera.
