Bonding of Forward Lip Seal of Stern Tube | Stern Tube Seal at Ship

Stern Tube is the aft part of propeller shaft. There are forward and aft seals for sealing the shaft to prevent sea water entry and stern tube lubricating oil spill to sea. These seals may be stuffing box type, lip seal type or radial seal type. Lip seal is most commonly used now-a-days. In aft, there are 3 seals and in forward, there are 2 seals generally. Seals are stationary but shaft and liner are rotating. In this video, we are showing the bonding of lip seal during drydock which is done by wartsila engineer. #MerchantNavy #Ship #SternTube
