Wolf pup released back into den

This Fawn Crick pup was a plump, pudgy pup for his age (~4 weeks)! In the spring, we visit wolf dens to get litter counts. We also briefly remove the pups from the den to put a microchip in each pup (like you would a dog) as well as get the sex, weight, and a hair sample (for genetics) from each pup. This approach provides great information about wolf pups in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem and allows us to understand which pups survive until the next year.
