IDENTITY - FIJIANA

Identity, a young coolie woman’s way of expressing her and her ancestors struggles and power. I express gratitude to the black community for this art form they’ve created and allowed so many non black people to participate in. I also express gratitude to the iTaukei Fijian community. Fiji was and will always be indigenous land, thank you for allowing me to express my own experiences with this all and expressing my love for this country I’ve come to know as home. Also after weeks of trying to find cast, on this zero budget project, 2 iTaukei women were confirmed to be in the video but on the hour the shoot was beginning they called and said they would not be able to be present. I sincerely apologize for the lack of iTaukei representation in the video.
