RARE footage of The Blue Angels in their Grumman F-11s, which they flew from 1957, to 1969.
Very fond memories of being at the Moffett Field Airshow in Sunnyvale, CA during the mid/late ’60s as a young lad, and watching them perform, along with the Lockheed P-3 “Orions“.
The “Tiger“ was a bit of a “Dog“ compared to the F-8 Crusader, and although flying with the Blues for many years, she did not last long as an operational fighter, being phased out of front line service by around 1961.
However, the aircraft was used in the training command in south Texas, Beeville, & Kingsville, until the late 1960s.
Watch for F9F Cougars, F-101s, F-102s, & TV-2 “Seastars“ as well!
