Curators’ introduction to Peru: a journey in time

Join curators Jago Cooper and Cecilia Pardo-Grau for an introduction to our new exhibition Peru: a journey in time. The extraordinary past cultures of Peru were shaped by unique ways of living within the geographically and climatically diverse landscapes of the central Andes, one of the cradles of world civilisation from around 3000 BC. As a result, the peoples of the Andes constructed and perceived time, space, economy, gender, power and the environment differently to all other past societies around the world, yet thrived for thousands of years. Their remarkable legacy challenges our understanding of what makes a successful society. In this free online event, Cooper and Pardo-Grau will discuss the breathtaking environments and world views of Andean people, as well the wider themes and highlights of this eye-opening new show.
