The Man Who Eats Grass! (1940)

Titles read: “THE MAN WHO EATS GRASS!“ Clapham, London. 68-year-old retired solicitor Mr Branson (Branston) sits at a desk using a typewriter. We then see him jogging around a park (probably Clapham Common), leaping over a fence and riding his bicycle along a road (windows of houses in background have white air-raid precaution tape). He stops beside a bowling green to pick up some grass from a man with a lawn mower. Commentator says Mr Branson claims that grass gives all the essentials to efficient nutrition. Mr Branson washes and dries the grass at home, then mixes it with mangel-wurzel, currants, oats and sugar and eats the mixture - yeuch! Brief library shot of a horse walking along a country lane pulling a heavy load of hay - commentator says “That’s what he’d call a real meal!“ FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
