What Is the Trinity? The Trinity means that God the Father Jehovah, God the Son Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit are one God, not separate entities. In order to understand the meaning of the Trinity, let’s think about the changing states of water. Water, ice, and vapor are different in form and name, but they all have the same substance [H2O]. Likewise, God appeared as the Savior in a different form and with a different name in each age, but the triune God is the same in substance. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given . . . And he will be called . . . Mighty God, Everlasting Father . . .” (Isa 9:6) The Bible testifies that Jesus, who was born as a baby, is Mighty God Jehovah (Isa 9:6). In other words, God the Father Jehovah and God the Son Jesus are one and the same.
