Police raid on 98-year-old newspaper owner’s home

Newly released CCTV footage shows the police raid on an elderly newspaper owner, which has since drawn widespread condemnation. Video shows 6 officers inside the home of 98-year-old Joan Meyer, which she shared with her son, Marion County Record Editor and Publisher Eric Meyer. Standing with the aid of a walker, Mayer can be heard saying, ‘Get out of my house... I don’t want you in my house!’ ‘Don’t touch any of that stuff! This is my house!’ she continues as the police ignore her. Increasingly upset, Meyer then makes her way towards one of the officers. ‘Do you have a mother?’ she demands. ‘You’re an a**hole!’ The raid was carried out after a local restaurant owner accused the newspaper of illegally accessing information about her. Joan Mayer died the day after the raid, and her son says the stress was a major factor in her death.
