J.S. Bach - “Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ” BWV 639

Roberto Bertero at the organ of Turin’s Santuario della Consolata (Church of the Virgin of the Consolation). In this video I am playing one of the most intensely emotional of all Bach’s compositions: the chorale prelude “Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ” (I call to You, Lord Jesus Christ) BWV 639, extracted from the Orelbüchlein (Little Organ Book). This masterpiece also become well known to the general public thanks to the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky who decided to include an interesting adaptation of this work in the soundtrack of his movie “Solaris“. The thumbnail used for this video is just a frame from the film, when Tarkovsky literally “flies“ with the camera inside Pieter Bruegel’s paintings, all accompanied by this splendid chorale prelude by Bach.
