The American Center in Moscow invites all film enthusiasts to join us for bi-monthly live sessions of At the Movies. These sessions will focus on genre filmmaking such as westerns, musicals, and noirs. Each “genre segment” will include one classic film and one modern film strategically paired (i.e. Singin’ in the Rain and La La Land).
Note: At the Movies will exclusively consist of film discussions. Movie screenings will not be provided. However, everyone is welcome whether they have seen the film being discussed or not.
The series is designed and hosted by Jon Spurney, a longtime AMC volunteer and film expert with a background in composing film and TV scores. Over the course of his career, Spurney has worked for major distributors like HBO, Hulu, and A24, and has worked closely with acclaimed American entertainers such as Spike Lee, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader on a variety of large-scale projects.
