Purcell Harpsichord Suite 3 (Sylvia Marlowe, 1946)

Purcell: Suite No. 3 in G Major, Z. 662 Sylvia Marlowe, harpsichord Recorded c. 1946 for the Gramophone Shop, Inc., New York City, by an unknown recording studio. Issued in December, 1946, as Side 4 of Gramophone Shop Celebrities album GSC-2 (records GSC-306 through GSC-310, five vinylite 12-inch records in automatic sequence). This was the first integral recording of Purcell’s eight harpsichord suites; the others are being uploaded separately. Purcell’s Suite No. 3 is in three movements: 1. Prelude 2. Almand (at 1:13) 3.
