Boys’ Club Opened Special (1959)

Titles read: “KINGSTON - BOYS’ CLUB OPENED“. (Special for Kingston.) Kingston-Upon-Thames, London. Various shots of cars arriving for the opening of a new boys’ club in Kingston. A crowd of young boys cheer as the cars go by. C/U of sign above the entrance to the club reading “Kingston Boys’ Club Sponsored By Variety Club of Great Britain and Kingston Upon Thames Round Table No. 19“. Guest arrive in a marquee and are greeted by Billy Butlin, chief barker of the Variety Club, then sit and listen to speeches. Among the guests are Mike J Frankovitch and his wife, the Mayor and Mayoress of Kingston, Councillor MJ Guymer, JP, the Right Reverend WP Gilpin, Bishop of Kingston, comic actor Richard Hearne (Mr Pastry), Mr and Mrs CJ Latta, Mr DJ Goodlatte (of Associated British Picture Corporation) and Colonel James Carreras. Billy Butlin makes a speech (not heard). The Mayor, Mayoress and the Bishop of Kingston walk from the marquee to the new club building. The Mayor cuts the tape to open the club,
