Divers Train On Land (1931)

“Here’s another new one from the land of big surprises - dry land diving!“ M/S of a group of men standing around watching a man practice his diving technique. The man is attached to two chords and as he bounces on a diving board and dives off, another man takes his weight and is lifted into the air. The diver lands on sand. Another practice dive is taken - this time the man lands on his face - he gets a face full of sand. As other men practice their diving technique an American narrator says things like “keep your chin up“. Man does a comedy dive and people laugh. Quite unusual and funny item. Note: item length includes opening title sequence. Sequence features the words “Pathe Pictorial - Puts the World Before You“ over a shot of the River Thames with Tower Bridge in the background.
