The trajectory of object 2020 SO as it makes a near-miss and then orbits the Earth

The object 2020 SO is possibly the upper stage of a rocket that sent the Surveyor 2 lander to the Moon in 1966. It passes within about 50,000 km of Earth in December 2020, and this animation shows two views of it. The first, from an oblique angle, shows it making a wide loop around the Earth that takes about 4 months, then passes us again before heading out (the orbits of the Moon and geosynchronous satellites are shown, too).
