“Let Rolling Streams“ - from Handel’s Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne (HWV 74). A filmed performance of the same utterly RAVISHING work I featured in my earlier upload - I have always felt that while Bach targets the mind, Handel aims at the heart, and hits it unfailingly. A trite generalisation perhaps, but there’s truth in it. On this occasion (and at a slightly faster tempo) we have the European Union Baroque Orchestra & Choir of Clare College, Cambridge, under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen. And if I may say so, most beautifully performed here by rising star countertenor, Alex Potter; and the equally persuasive baritone, Hugo Popplewell. I hope you enjoy it too.
