Our visual world is chaotic and constantly changing, yet what we perceive is remarkably stable. How does our brain create this illusory stability? This illusion shows that our perception is continuously smoothed over time. The face in the video is ageing, yet the face is perceived as ageing less than what it actually is (or not ageing at all). Our perception is thus constantly biased towards the past in order to stabilize the visual world we live in.
