Training Australia’s Dangerous Magpies - magpies feeding their young baby magpies
What to Feed a Young Australian Magpie;
Magpie swooping : Magpies only swoop within about 100 metres (~100 yards) of their nests, so it’s best for people to stay away from known magpie nesting areas. Also, magpies usually go back to the same spot every year, so if there was a swooping danger zone on your route last year, it is likely to be there again this year.
The Australian magpie is a medium-sized black and white passerine bird native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Although once considered to be three separate species, it is now considered to be one, with nine recognised subspecies. Males will have a pure white nape (back of neck). Females will have motley grey shades and markings on their nape.
