Pompey Ko’s Hecht (1957)

Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). International boxing match between Trinidad’s boxer Yolande Pompey and German Champion Gerhard Hecht in progress. GV. Boxers sparring around. CU. German film star Hildegard Neff. SV. Pompey attacking, with Hecht backing away. CU. The two fighters exchange blows of equal intensity. GV. Pompey goes after his man and they are mixing it - they part. CV. Pompey slings a wild right and misses. He takes a bit of punishment from Hecht, but keeps on and they mix it - parting. GV. Pompey attacks. Pompey swings a right which misses but Hecht is kneeling on the canvas clutching his middle - this is reaction to previous blow. Pompey gives him one on the shoulder and referee intervenes. CV. Hecht finally collapses flat out on the canvas clutching his middle. Referee counting. Hecht is spread-eagled. GV. Referee still counting. Hecht leaning on his shoulder is counted out, and the referee helps him to his feet and marches him across the ring. Pompey sympathises. CU. Cy
