“Sgt. Pepper’s“ was built by Carsten Standfuss, when he was 18 years old in 1988. The same year the submersible became the smallest fully functional manned underwater vehicle according to the Guinness Book of Records. Since then it underwent overhauls and modifications in 1999 and 2006 Dry weight: 575 kg (1270 pounds) Submerged displacement: 670 kg (1475 pounds) Length over all: 2,98 m (9,8 ft) Working depth: 150 m (490 ft) Test depth: 200 m (660 ft) Crush depth: 300 m (985 ft)
