Here we see the Japanese Prime Minister sleeping in parliament right during the vote for his re-election for another term as Prime Minister. He woke up, finding himself chosen for a new term as Prime Minister.
But, there is more to this than meets the eye. Traditionally, matters of importance are decided in Japan behind the scenes, based on the principle of consensus. Only when consensus becomes, for one reason or another, impossible, do Japanese resort to democracy and decide things on the basis of the less secure procedure of voting. And, this is true at all levels of Japanese society and in all spheres of life.
