Royal Scot (1963)

Skegness, Lincolnshire. C/U of a policeman in a police car with a blue light on top. A trailer which holds the Royal Scot steam train is being driven behind him through the streets of Skegness. Various shots of the huge locomotive, the crowds which watch it passing and the men directing the vehicles progress. C/U of man driving the lorry. Narrator states that Pickfords (whose van we see) are part of British Rail Services rather than a private company. Therefore they have been given the job of transporting the train. The Royal Scots Pipe Band pipe in the train as it reaches its final resting place - Butlin’s Holiday Camp of course! Shot from the camp cable car of the train being moved into position. An elephant shows his approval. Interior of the engine driver’s cab. Driver Bill Starvis assists a female redcoat to pull the lever “he has so often wrestled with“.
