Die Grenzwacht hielt im Osten [German folk song][+English translation]

The song is from the poem “die Baltenfahne“ from Baron Manteuffel-Katzdangen. He was a baltic-german nobleman. It tells about the fight of the German Freikorps, especially the so called “Baltikumer“ after WW1. They fought in Latvia and Lithuania against the bolsheviki to defend the German borderlands. Some of the soldiers were of baltic german origin. The singer is Jürgen V. I used a teutonic knight as title picture, because they are the origin and ancestors of those people who fought there after ww1. Here in German: English: So in 1920 these soldiers had to leave the baltic region, because of no support from the German government. In the song they are desparate, many had fallen. They return to their fatherland and bring home their flag as their last duty. But it will be the duty of their children to bring the flag back to eastern land (Ostland), what indeed happend in WW2.
